Before the formation of the Dimilira Cluster Level Association, the people of Bunyafa Sub-County in Sironko District suffered many issues in the community, among them a lack of access to clean water for drinking and domestic use. This exposed them to the risk of many preventable diseases, like typhoid, diarrhea, and dysentery.
In November 2019, 18 members from Nine Self Help Groups supported by Share An Opportunity Uganda united to form the Dimilira CLA.
The CLA came up with the initiative to advocate for the rehabilitation of a water well in their area. The CLA worked together with the local leadership of Bugambi parish to see that the water well of Nabulo is constructed and rehabilitated so that people consume clean water in the parish.
As a result of the initiative, the Dimirira Cluster Level Association (CLA) feels they have changed the community because they are realizing a high reduction in the number of cases of water born diseases reported as a result of the community having access to clean water.
They have a future plan to increase resource mobilization for other infrastructure and material needs to be extended into their entire parish. They also plan to meet all Sub-county and district officials in a period of one year to handle their issues. They plan to form more sub-committees for CLAs which will closely work with technical people including the assistant Senior Administrave Officer, Community Development Officer, Community health workers, and Police in charge of the child and family protection unit.
Dimirira Cluster Level Association (CLA) is found in Bugambi village, Bugambi parish, Bunyafa sub-county in Sironko district. It was formed on 29th /11/2019 with a composition of 18 members from 9 SHGs with a membership of UGX 1000. They sit on every last Monday of the month at 2:00 pm with a monthly subscription of UGX 1000 from each Self Help Group.
