Share An Opportunity (SAO U) is a Christian, child-centred Non-government organization. It envisions a holistically developed child within the community. The organization seeks to recruit a dynamic and self-motivated individual for the position of Programme Officer Connections. The ideal candidate will be based in Kaberamaido and should have worked in a similar position for at least three years.

The Programme Officer, Connections, will be responsible for ensuring that their work promotes the growth of Share An Opportunity Uganda in the attainment of her vision and mission.

Job Summary:

The Programme Officer, Connections, is responsible for creating a link between the community and supporters in Australia.

Duty station: Kaberamaido

Position type: Regional

Contract type: Fixed term contract – 1 year

Proposed start of contract: As soon as possible

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Programme Officer, Connections

1. Facilitate relationships and effective communication between the community and supporters in Australia so that the change realized is effectively communicated.

2. Ensure that child partners are delivered in an effective manner( letters, photographs, etc

3. Timely response to child partner updates.

4. To do info checks for the child partners and their households every quarter.

5. .To conduct quarterly review meetings of child partners to determine the progress of the programme intervention.

6. Deliver accurate feedback and reports on the status of the Child partners and other children in the community

7. Identify and carry out a needs assessment for children living with disability.

8. Facilitate children and Youths’ meaningful participation throughout the project cycle. To achieve the target of 1400 Child Partners active on the project.

9. Monitoring and tracking progress of interventions in the community.

10. Build the capacity of the community teams in the implementation of the child-related interventions to achieve SAO U targeted results.

11. Review project performance progress reports and ensure compliance with the reporting guidelines, and ensure timely submission of reports from Projects to the Programme Coordinator.

12. Participate in relevant partnership committees, meetings, and implement action points developed therein.

Other requirements/competencies:

· Well-managed Child Partner database.

· Periodic data collection and updates of child partners’ information.

· Good communication between child partners and sponsors.

· Proper record management

· Comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on the operations at the project.

· Well-managed and vibrant contacts and working relationships with all stakeholders

Qualifications & Experience

a) Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Development studies, Social Sciences or equivalent in a development-related field.

b) Minimum of 3 years’ experience, preferably in a NGO setting in the sector of Sponsorship.

c) Capacity to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds as is the case in the northern region.

d) Capacity to work efficiently within a multidisciplinary team

e) Strong ability to work independently

f) Good interpersonal and communication skills

g) Good computer skills

h) Ability to speak the local language (Kumum)

The job holder must be a hardworking, spiritually mature, focused, and trustworthy individual who upholds a high sense of integrity and accountability and commitment to the vision, mission, values, and aspirations of SAO U.

Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding permit is a MUST. Females are strongly encouraged to apply. Fluency in the local language, Kumum is a requirement.
