Pastor John Makumbi from Luti Baptist Church has been involved in coffee growing for over 10 years. His yields were always low, and the quality poor. Each season, every year, brought unpleasant dwindling yields.
But this now is a thing of the past.
Share An Opportunity Uganda, a Child centered, Christian founded Non-Government Organization introduced a project that has immensely changed Pastor Makumbi’s story, life, and fortune. The Church & Community Transformation (CCT) program is designed to enable communities overcome poverty through a whole-life response to the gospel.
According to Pastor Makumbi, his coffee production yields have increased in both quality and quantity since SAO U introduced the program. He says “now I get more kilos from each coffee tree due to improved coffee management skills from CCT trainings. Our income as a family has improved, we are now able to feed and pay school fees for our children adequately.”
CCT operates in Lwengo and Kalungu districts of the Greater Masaka area. It brings together leaders of Baptists churches in the area and some selected farmers.
